Recreation Leader
Gateway Special Recreation Association is seeking motivated and enthusiastic Recreation Leaders to join our team. This individual will be responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and leading recreational programs and activities for people of with developmental disabilities of all ages. The Recreation Leader will work closely with the community to foster a positive and engaging environment while encouraging active participation and well-being.
Recreation Aide
Gateway Special Recreation Association is looking for a part-time Recreation Aid to support individuals with and without disabilities in various recreational activities, special events, and fitness programs. The Recreation Aid will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and engaging environment for program participants while upholding the organization’s core values of dedication, respect, support, and fun.
Volunteer With US
Volunteers are a vital part of the Gateway Special Recreation Association team, helping to provide meaningful and inclusive recreation experiences for individuals with disabilities. Volunteers assist team members with program activities, offer social support, and help participants fully engage in a variety of programs including sports, arts and crafts, social outings, day camps, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage positively with participants of all ability levels.
- Assist team members in leading and supporting recreational activities.
- Promote a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.
- Help with setup and cleanup of program space and materials.
- Encourage socialization, independence, and participation.
- Provide support during outings, transportation, and transitions as needed.
- Communicate any concerns or observations to program leaders and aides.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 13 years old (age requirements may vary by program).
- Friendly, patient, and reliable.
- Able to follow directions and work collaboratively with the team.
- Comfortable working with individuals with disabilities (training provided).
- Must complete volunteer application and any required background checks.
Training & Support:
- Orientation and on-the-job training provided.
- Ongoing support and supervision from recreation leaders.
- Opportunities for growth and development in adaptive recreation.
